In the heart of the Montespaccato neighbourhood, at 85 Via Gaetano Mazzoni, the study room at the Montespaccato Cultural Hub is located within the regenerated spaces of the former Campari factory. The building, an example of rationalist industrial architecture, hosted Campari production for around fifty years, employing many people from the neighbourhood, before closing in the mid-1980s and being acquired by the Municipality of Rome.
Within the Ex Campari Cultural Hub there is a room available to associations upon request for exhibitions, events and cultural initiatives, a study room, and a 450 square metre coworking space with 22 workstations. The study room offers a space dedicated to studying and shared work, set within a broader cultural context that encourages interaction among those who use the spaces to read, study in depth, work on projects, or organise public activities. The complex is the first public cultural space opened by the municipal administration of Municipio Roma XIII, strengthening the neighbourhood’s role in the city’s cultural landscape.
The Hub is closely connected to the Rome Libraries system: the new spaces indeed house the neighborhood library, pending the completion of renovation works at the nearby Cornelia Library.
The transformation of the former Campari plant into a Cultural Hub returns a landmark building to the neighbourhood, combining industrial heritage with new social uses. The study room at the Montespaccato Cultural Hub thus becomes a stable and recognisable public space, where people can study, read or work in a context that preserves the history of the place and promotes active participation from the local community.
